Donald Trump: #MAGAGod or #HeDevil?
Trump is a very, very controversial individual, and I bet you're thinking what I think of him as we begin this new era in Media. Well, let's see what the facts have to say about Donald Trump's presidency so far into his first term. According to factcheck.com.- The jobless rate fell further, to the lowest in nearly 50 years. The number of job openings grew to the highest in at least 18 years.
- Economic growth picked up, but remained far short of what Trump promised.
- The growth of federal regulatory restrictions stopped.
- Handgun production fell 21 percent, and sales of all guns also dropped.
- Carbon dioxide emissions stopped falling, and rose 1.8 percent.
- Illegal Mexico-U.S. border crossings surged to the highest number in over a decade.
- Stock prices and after-tax corporate profits set records. So did single-family home prices.
- The U.S. trade deficit, which Trump promised to reduce, grew by nearly 28%.
- The number of people without health insurance rose by 2 million to 7 million, depending on the survey.
- Weekly wages grew faster than inflation, and the number of people getting food stamps fell to the lowest in nearly 10 years.
- The federal debt rose by $1.8 trillion. Annual deficits accelerated.
So hit-and-miss to say the least so far, and unfortunately he has failed on such promises as building that great big wall of his and #lockingherup, but he does have a mixed congress which is unlikely to get better after this next election, unless of course the American population comes in waves for him for his stellar economic numbers. So from an uninformed person's position who only looks at factcheck.com they'll be thinking the election could go either way. This is where things could change.
On the ground, Trump's rallies have been a sight to behold and he has been picking up steam with his steel mill claim, although such claims have so far been proven false. Trump's little adventure in the middle east left many wondering if he would make the mistake like #CrookedHillary would have with declaring war with Iran. Hey Hillary, just because you got exonerated with your Russian Uranium deal doesn't mean that you haven't done anything crooked or wicked over your time as a public official. I think if there's anything that the left and the right both agree with, it's that we are all glad that #CrookedHillary was not president or else we'd probably be at was with Iran right now. When electing Trump, I feel as though it was more of a trial on Hillary's part over what positives Trump could bring to the table. #lockherup really resonated at the time of the 2016 election... but this isn't 2016 and hindsight is 2020. For 2020 Trump has to be judged by his merit, not by what Hillary would have done though because it seems the democrats have learned their lesson... or have they? We'll be getting to this another time.
And we haven't even gotten to the Impeachment yet, which right wingers seem to think is a #sham. Well it's hard to split the difference here, but if I were Joe Biden, I REALLY would not have let Huanter Biden serve on the board of Burisma Holdings in the way that he has. It's a bad look, and I am of the belief that whether or not the Impeachment is valid, it has really changed no one's opinion on the upcoming election. Those that think Trump is a bad guy, well, they're still going to think of him as a bad guy, and vice versa.
Well, the most important question of all... what does Trump mean for a free and open internet? Could a democratic challenger outflank Trump on this issue. Well.... that's hard to say, as it seems both parties are willing to hand over internet rights over to corporations, or bureaucratically seize them for themselves... but hey at least the US isn't like Russia or the EU in these regards. Free speech is crucial to a free and open internet and the EU has a lot of catching up to do with regards to copyright and free speech. I mean technically, you probably can't let out a small curse as far as the EU is concerned. Fuck me. please. Fuck me. Andrew Yang wants your data to be your own personal property, but can that really be done? In the end, it's probably best if the internet were to be grown organically.
Overall, while probably not the optimal pick for a Republican president (and you typically NEVER get optimal), he is a good Republican pick. For the Democrats, I'm #YangGang and #DownWithBernie. You can't deny the YangGang's meme factor and they are the number one candidate of the democratic race on the internet meme scale. I mean I could really use $1000 per month.... even though I'm Canadian and I'll never get those fabled #YangBucks.
